In spite of an apocalyptic last three years, DC Fund had much to celebrate in terms of our progress and support to changemakers of color. Among our many accomplishments: we nearly tripled our giving, reaching over a million dollars in grant awards disbursed; streamlined our application process and made it more accessible; expanded our capacity building initiatives as part of our overall change strategy; and built institutional infrastructure, including hiring our first staff members!

The Programs Our Communities Need Now
Larger Grants & More Equity in our grantmaking process. In 2024, we are increasing grant sizes to $10,000 for Launching Groups and $25,000 for Growing Groups/Organizations.

The Staff of Instigators DC Fund needs to expand our support for movement leaders as they take bold and impactful action towards systemic change.

In March 2023, our Board of Instigators held its first in-person retreat since the pandemic to collaborate on our growth!

Our Inaugural Executive Director
In May 2022, we named Tamira Benitez as DC Fund’s inaugural executive Director. Hiring a full-time executive director opened a new chapter of our commitment to support changemakers of color.
