Anniversary

The Diverse City Fund was initiated in 2011 by activists and donors to support projects in DC’s communities of color. A year later our all-volunteer Board of Instigators united and dedicated itself to building an organization that centers community-led grantmaking to create a more equitable form of wealth and resource distribution. Today we are a collective of Instigators, Grantmakers, Donors, Staff and Organizational Leaders preparing for our next phase of growth, working in solidarity with the people of the global majority to build a more just and vibrant city for all.

Through our collective journey the DC Fund has:

  • Distributed over 2 million dollars to local BIPOC-led grassroots groups;

  • Amplified organizations and leaders of color through 463 grants;

  • Engaged over 70 community members as part of our Grantmaking Teams;

  • Shifted local philanthropy towards more equitable, community-led practices.

We are excited to celebrate our past as we look to the future and what’s next for the DC Fund. Every month through December we will be hosting events and sharing highlights of our community and a decade dedicated to realizing liberation, building power, sparking solutions and creating social change in DC.

in Progress:

  • Check our first Impact & Assessment Report

  • Launch of the new Diverse City Fund logo and website

  • Virtual and In-person Celebrations

This decade of the DC Fund could not be possible without the generosity and support of friends and donors.
