Women Cooking In Prison

What does cooking look like when the only tools available are a microwave and commissary ingredients?
On April 4, Who Speaks For Me? invites you to experience Women Cooking In Prison, our signature annual fundraiser and a powerful exploration of food justice in jails and prisons.
During this live cooking demonstration, formerly incarcerated women will recreate dishes using the same ingredients they had access to while inside — and cook them the way they had to: using a microwave. As they cook, they will share stories about survival, creativity, and the community they built in spaces designed to isolate.
In-person guests will have the opportunity to sample the dishes prepared during the demonstration.
Virtual participants can cook along from home. All ticket holders will receive an ingredient list in advance so they can prepare the dishes alongside the presenters.
