Internalizing White Supremacist Violence

This session uses Avatar: The Last Airbender to explore how white supremacist violence shows
up in our relationships to ourselves. By framing Zuko, Azula, Toph, Katarram, and Sokka as
archetypes of internalized white supremacy, participants will be able to identify how cultures of
violence can distort and destroy our relationships to ourselves. These characters will allow us to
acknowledge and reflect on how cultures of dominance have distorted our self-concepts and
driven disconnection from authenticity, joy, and power.
