Through our grantmaking, the Diverse City Fund supports small, under-resourced racial and social justice-focused groups and coalitions. Grantees often share that one of their biggest challenges is limited access to support for growing stronger in the ways they keep the organization going and develop leadership. In response, we work to make the most of our resources and connections to create high-quality opportunities for these groups and their leaders.

in 2020, the dc fund
Brought together grantees to discuss their capacity-building needs and learn how the DC Fund could be most supportive;
Provided grantees with one-on-one skill-building support and coaching on topics including developing fundraising strategies, designing outreach plans, and strategic planning.
Leveraged our connections to other grantmakers, resulting in additional funding for some DC Fund grantees.
Partnered with national and international institutions to provide scholarships for six Black Executive Directors among our grantees to earn a Nonprofit Executive Management Certificate; and
Partnered with our colleagues in Resourcing Radical Justice to provide virtual organizing trainings to help groups move their advocacy and organizing work online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
